Despite some colds on the part of the children and staff, January was a great month.  So far, we fared better than most institutions in avoiding the flu.  We had couple weather related issues but again, January weather has cooperated in allowing us to stay open for the families that need us.

Our children are thriving; they are growing like weeds and learning.  It is so much fun to watch them develop and demonstrate the new things they have learned on daily basis.  Thanks to our families and staff, they are also the best behaved children we could possibly have.  They know and follow their daily routines and participate in all the activities with enthusiasm.

Our January special interest person was a dancer and the hip-hop dance was a big success.  Older and younger children kept up the dancing for a full hour.  At the end of January,  the older children will go to the Red Bridge Skating Rink for some fun and games.  This will be a new field trip for the Center but one we might want to repeat.

In February, it will be all about Valentine's Day.  As part of our mission, we are teaching the children to give as well as to receive.  In that spirit of giving, the older children will be visiting an animal shelter and bringing food donations for the animals.  I am sure some of them will be ready to bring a kitten or a puppy back with them.   Also in February, we prepare Valentine treat baskets to distribute to some homes in the community.   February is dental health month.  As in the past, we will have dental hygienist come to talk and interact with the children about proper dental care.

As the days get longer and we see the sun more often, we hope to institute the practice of going for morning walks together - babies, toddlers and pre-school children.
